The 15th Ward includes all or parts of Brighton Park, West Englewood, Back of the Yards and Gage Park. Incumbent Ald. Raymond Lopez prevailed over several challengers to be elected to the seat in 2015 and faces several again, including a rematch against a 2015 opponent. Key issues in the ward include economic development and gang violence.
Lopez faces four challengers: violence interrupter Joseph G. Williams, Chicago Police officer Rafael “Rafa” Yanez, community organizer Berto Aguayo and Otis Davis Jr., director of New City Wholistic Community Development Project.
To win, candidates must receive more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate reaches that threshold, the top two candidates will advance to a run off on April 2.
Percentages are based on the available ballots tallied by the Chicago Board of Elections. Percentages listed do not indicate a winner until all ballots are counted.
