Ald. Toni Foulkes is running for a second term representing the 16th Ward, which includes all or parts of Gage Park, Chicago Lawn, Englewood, West Englewood and Back of the Yards. Foulkes is facing a re-match from 2015, when she defeated Stephanie Coleman, the daughter of former Ald. Shirley Coleman and the ward’s Democratic committeeperson. In addition to Stephanie Coleman, Eddie Johnson III, Kenny Doss, Jeffrey Lewis and Latasha Sanders. Much like in the 2015 race, the candidates are focusing on issues of economic development, safety and education.
To win, candidates must receive more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate reaches that threshold, the top two candidates will advance to a run off on April 2.
Percentages are based on the available ballots tallied by the Chicago Board of Elections. Percentages listed do not indicate a winner until all ballots are counted.
