Ald. Matt O’Shea is running for a third term representing the 19th Ward, which includes all or parts of Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park. O’Shea, an ally of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, was named to chair the Aviation Committee after the retirement of 23rd Ward Ald. Mike Zalewski. He is running against David Dewar in a ward that is home to many city workers, and that includes one of a handful of neighborhoods that voted for President Donald Trump for president in 2016.
To win, candidates must receive more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate reaches that threshold, the top two candidates will advance to a run off on April 2.
Percentages are based on the available ballots tallied by the Chicago Board of Elections. Percentages listed do not indicate a winner until all ballots are counted.
