Race for 26th Ward Alderman

Incumbent reelected

Roberto Maldonado replaced Billy Ocasio as 26th Ward alderman in 2009. He was appointed by then-Mayor Richard M. Daley. Last election, Maldonado narrowly won reelection, and another crowd of challengers threatens to unseat him this year. In the 26th Ward, which includes parts of hot neighborhoods Humboldt Park, Logan Square, West Town, Hermosa and West Humboldt Park, issues surrounding gentrification such as affordability are key.

To win, candidates must receive more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate reaches that threshold, the top two candidates will advance to a run off on April 2.

Percentages are based on the available ballots tallied by the Chicago Board of Elections. Percentages listed do not indicate a winner until all ballots are counted.
